As always, we have Coach O’Neal in the building. Will you just explain to us? You know what is a corner, kick how it applies to the game, why it’s important and then we can build from there. You know soap. A corner kick is awarded to the attacking team. When the team defending the goal kicks the ball over there end line. That’S the line that the goal sits on its own eyeballs deflected or is kicked over by the defending team that they give a corner. Kick is awarded to the team that is attacking so Corner kicks, give a team a chance at the goal in in such a way where there get a free. Kick a corner kick on the edge of the field, so a player will come in and cross top ball in and players can come in and headed in depending on what age they are certain age groups. They can’t head the ball in so they’ll have to chest. It in or put it in with their legs are the inside of foot their thigh, their knee whatever they can get on on the ball. In order for a kid to be proficient at striking Italian Corner kicks, they have to be good at striking the ball. So Pride soccer training are soccer. Lessons are designed to make sure that we teach players how to strike that ball properly, because I’m a corner, kick, you can drive it in which is hitting a low driven ball so that they can possibly deflect off of someone or your team can come in and Just finish it if it was left wide open, another way is hitting a ball. That’S kind of logged into the air to wear play.

I can flick it onto another two-headed in or it goes over. Most of the Defenders to one person can run in and hit the ball a person, the player, the soccer player, who is taking the corner? Kick? They must also pay attention to the goalkeeper because of the goalkeeper is really good at coming out and it’s big and strong and can win most airballs. Then you have to play it by ear. Tulsa Soccer Lessons Call a teaser a ball that causes the going to feel overconfident and come for the ball, but it’s just out of their reach. So you get one more player out of the way of the goal, so you can knock the ball into the back of the net. A lot easier, so you have to as a player, you have to be taking note of how good that goalkeeper is to you all set to be taking note of which players are aggressive and good at winning the ball out of the air and trying to play The ball away from them and onto your own teammates, there’s also a trick plays that you’ll see coaches, do where they’ll play the ball out in the cross, it back in to draw players out of the box, and that requires two players with strong technical ability to Pass it directly to the prayer of the other one to cross the ball in the cause, a little bit of confusion. Sometimes, players are left standing wondering what’s going on specially the early age when they’re not used to seeing plays like that. So it’s it’s all of once about technical Ability Beyond the strike that ball exactly where you want it and getting it in there and then another one is sometimes deception is getting players to move out of position that you can play the ball. Put our put the ball into the back of the net, so it’s it’s one of those things that is just a it’s a it’s a good way to score goals and many go to spend a lot of time on penalty kicks friend. Tulsa Soccer Lessons Since I have a few different plays that I call on, and my team’s know them, so they have three or four different ways of taking their PK’s and causing disruption. I’M sorry corners and causing disruption on the soccer field ultimately is to be able to score which right back to your technical ability, because if I’m standing there at the flag getting ready to take that corner kick I need to have the confidence that I can send. This ball and to the appropriate area of the field, to give my new teammates the best chance to actually put the ball in the back of the net, so it’s an art and a technique in a science. You know this is what year did explaining describing as well exactly exactly, and it is it’s just like you said it’s giving your team the advantage, because you have the technical ability to play that ball in.

It also requires a technical ability of the player running on to play the ball into the back of the net, because there will be coming in the air for their head or for their chest or for the thigh, or you know it could be for their shoelaces. Are they inside if they have to go to put in the back of the net and require some bravery to there’s always a kid on the team that just loves coming in and winning balls? And so I love seeing players like that as well, because they, like that aggressive being aggressive and going to the ball question for you, and I know you have a minute to ask you this and I know how you are so it’ll – be like a thousand options. But I want you to pick one and tell her what is one of your all-time favorite Corner kicks that you’ve ever seen and again, I know that there will be thousands. This could be from foot in G watch. This can be from you know, one of your favorite players. It can be from a game you coached from a game. You’Ve watched somebody that we’ve trained or that you know, we’ve coached at pride and we watch one of their games just anything just to share what is so beautiful about. When you see a wonderful corner, kick what just described that element! What you saw, what you experience, what they were able to do and why that was such a beautiful? You know mastria technique. Oh what a my favorite songs by Keith Eddie are my soccer coach grown up? He had his take a penalty. Kick where are Captain Clayton treat he we would cross the ball into him from the corner and he be at the front post, the near post and so he’d have a Defender and he flicked the ball up past everybody and we have a player running in like Chad Frazier would come in and finish it in the back of the net. Now I thought it was some that Keith had come up with, and maybe you did maybe you didn’t, but I found out recently that Holland in the 1988 European Championship use the same corner. Kick and they scored a goal off of it to get them. I think, through to the final, so it is a lovely free-kick is deceptive because it causes people to be Focus completely on a player at the front post is flicking the ball on and ignoring the back post with the player who’s coming in. To finish it, Tulsa Soccer Lessons so it causes players to kind of be overly focused on the on the plane on the front post, because I’m not I’m not quite following that it sounds beautiful.

The person is at the corner, kicking the ball in and they are flicking it in. Okay, they’re crossed for Heather at the front post, it’s in the air, they pass them with their head, so nobody sees that coming, back., It’s cool that is good and it on, and then also someone coming in to finish it off. So it all comes down to practice and Technical Mastery and we can help you with those things at pride of Tulsa soccer training and our time is up for this podcast.
