We talked about the amazing Pat Summit, and we shared a little bit about her life and her philosophy when it comes to not just coaching basketball that also life, and you might be going. Why are you talking about? You know a basketball coach. This is a soccer podcast, the O’Neal. Do you kind of want to address that and then kind of Tee It Up for today about what we’re discussing are related because they all need the same. They all use the same concept. Same philosophies of working hard of working to be the best trying to obtain your your potential and become better than that, and I think I’m just studying great coaches great athletes. It helps us to see how we can become better and how we can do better. What are the quotes that Pat Summit had on here was about petition, and she says that she says: there’s always someone better than you whatever it is that you do for a living chances are you will run into a situation in which you are not as talented As the person next to you, that’s when being a competitor can make a difference in your fortunes and found this to be so true for my life. When I went to play in college, you know growing up in Tulsa Oklahoma. I was a very good soccer player and I trained with my uncle I watch videos with my dad. I played for very soccer teams played against a grown man when I was 15 just learning how to play the game and loving the game of and play better night.. Very, very good. I don’t know what to college. I met up with many more players with the same ability, if not better than my own and very quickly. I was like man. What am I going to do and one of the little buddies that I ended up making during the first few weeks where was Robby Arista demo and he was the Canadian national team player.

He had drive yet passion. He was only person. I saw that I could not work harder than I could not out do his work ethic and I start to adopt his work ethic and see how I can push my stuff and together we started to train. You know everyday, we try and outside of practice. Even we train during the off-season – and I got so much better to the point where I can hit a 60-yard ball on a dime where I wanted to go with one step. So it just the technique, got better and better and better. Even my right foot, which is my week, but I got stronger in that as well cuz, we worked on it so much so you’re saying you guys got better just because you were already someone who was hard. Work and diligence really driven intensely focused, but then, when you got to you know, the next level. As far as like college play, you came across people who were also just as talented as you just as hard-working as you and then in this case, with the Golden Boy. Robbie arrested, email, more hard-working, a new level that you could go to, even though you were already operating at your highest messed that you got it that time it like. You know something you need to see other people who surpassed you. You need to be around those people, you need to work with them, you need to learn from them and he was like my coach in college. The things that I even I remember today. I still remember from what we did I take from it. I pull from it, I remember the experience so yes, you you will reach, though you will find those people and you will have to you, know, learn from them and work with them. He was interesting about that to me, and sometimes I think, people you know if they might find someone who’s better than them, and you know they kind of get intimidated by that or they let it stop them or they like feel like they have to like hate that Person, you know, have you seen that before and I know for me I’m more like you, I want to say I’m going to let that get me better. I feel like iron sharpens iron and hey. That still applies like if you’re talking about soccer lessons or whatever, and I just wanted to grow and get better. I never felt like. Oh that person is so good. You know you know. I played a lot of sports and stuff growing up. I never looked at it and I was like oh they’re, so good that minimizes me or oh, I don’t like them, they’re, so good! No, Tulsa Soccer Lessons I just like you. Let me up my game. I’M almost have a higher level. I can go to also encourage anyone. Listening. You know greatness should Inspire greatness and I think sometimes you know it’s easy to forget that, and that was one thing with Pat Summit and her teens her idea was. We are all going to rise together and that’s what we do at pride of Tulsa soccer training. Our goal is to help players go from where they are to where they want to be, and we just help them do that an incremental nature step by step. We do customized training plans to help you, you know, maybe you’re a novice. Maybe you are, you know an amateur, maybe you’re, someone who’s like O’Neal. You are, you know, Tulsa Soccer Lessons maximize. You know, you’re, you maximize your talent you’re at the highest level that you can be right.

Now, well guess what there’s a higher level that you just haven’t seen yet that’s exactly it! I mean I see so many talented players and they’re good. They worked hard. They can strike a ball while they can juggle. They can do all these things, but there’s still more levels, more intensity that that they need to learn, and I can push them to that next level. You know and that’s that’s. My job is to make sure that I putPastor potential of the you know. Pat Summit talks about that, too, will hit that up. You know our program, they wanted to know their soccer player to get some one-on-one lessons and they had some goals they want to meet and reach, and so we’re helping them do that we’ve already created a customized playing for them. There kiddo is working and progressing. We seen you know, step to being made in on the right direction after just one one or two sessions, which is really great: the soccer players working hard and very receptive to what you know our training provides. But this parent was telling me that they wanted to make sure you know the most important thing to deal with, that their child will be pushed in Challenge and developed, but also that they would be nurtured and. That’S something I know, that’s really important to you, and it just popped into my mind is were talking about Pat Summit cuz. She was tough, I mean she was No Nonsense. She had intense training for them. She had high expectations, but you could see in her that she cared about her players like she loved them and she wanted the best for them and that, even though she was tough on them, she was also very nurturing. So I know we’re almost out of time.. Did you speak to that cuz? I think that’s who got some? It wasn’t the coach. I know that’s who you are as a coach. I know I’ve watched you coach for years and I know you really care about players and their development. So what are you over? The years I’ve learned, I learned this from you to Sharita – is that the very small things in life matter the most like your attitude, your work ethic. They seem like tiny things, but they matter that’s a little bit at a time, and so for me, when I see players, you know goofing around goofing around on the sidelines or you know saying silly things. I questioned him on it and I drive them to better when they are making mistake. I push them to do the right thing over. Even when they’re scared a lot of times a player because they’re scared, they will refuse to do the thing that you’ve told them to do and we work on in practice. But I still got the game sometime and still do the opposite and I will push them. Cuz, I push them pass your comfort zone, so they do the right thing and once they see it work they usually stick with it from there and it’s about pushing them into greatness. I let it forcing them to accept greatness, because sometimes it’s hard for them. They’Re scared they’re doing something: that’s not normal or unnatural to what they have been doing before, and you have to really get them to see the hey. Tulsa Soccer Lessons This is the correct way of doing it, and this is what’s going to make you better and I’m not going to let you keep doing the same thing whether I have to feel for you. Talk to you put you back in or I have to keep on. You until you do it or we have to work on it a thousand times and practice. I don’t care we’re going to make it happen when it gets you to get to that next level. So that’S!

That’S where I see that and that’s the nurturing environment. Getting the players to change their ways, change their habits and become better at what they do and make the right decisions use the right technique, and I think that is exactly what it is and you have to for me as a coach. I also make sure that I’m always positive with them, so they still receive it well and they move forward. I might get Stern, but never to the point where it breaks them down there not performing. Well, absolutely, are you talking about Pat Summit? She was one of the most winning coaches of all time. Nobody walked off the court, you know with more wins than she had and she’s someone who had a great attitude strong work ethic. She loved the players that she coach do. You know and treated them like family and that’s why she’s, the one who we respect and look up to, and so we would love that ants to nurture and develop your soccer player and help them find the success that they need and we we are proficient at doing That we have so many happy clients and we would love to add your name to the list as well.
