This is episode 127 and today we are talking about numbers and their significance, so O’Neal.

What do you mean by this title? What numbers are we talking about and what is their significance? So, first of all you have to know I am a total football nut. Like a love, Total Football, the concept of an attic develop the ability to swap roles in a different position, so the game of soccer. When it became more organized numbers that that players wore meant something, and so the numbers would go 1 through 11, because they’re 11 players on the field, anything above 11 was a substitute. And so I like to use the Dutch numbering system – and I like to do that in a 4333 scenario. Mostly then from there, I teach players how to play from that point on. But I just love the idea of talking about these numbers and what they mean in the significance of each position. So we’ll start off with the number one player, the most important player on the field, the goalkeeper that goalkeeper wears number one and he is expected to make saves start counter-attacks and communicate with players on the field. Usually have any good goalies, usually a huge Communicator, because they see the whole field all the time and seeing every player and everything that’s going on. So they are always be communicating players 2 and 5 that were those numbers were the right and left wing backs. So number two was the right: wing-back number 5 was the left-wing back, and so they were expected to defend on the flanks on the outside, but also when they attacked overlap and to get crosses in and even sometimes score goals. So these players were expected to push up into the attack. Tulsa Soccer Lessons Do you add more numbers and in attack and keep the other team at Bay? So I always teach my players whenever they’re playing spicy me outside backs. Those are two very important positions to me because you can control games from there if you can get to outside back, so I can overlap and attack and defend. Well, you have the ability to win mini games. Very key players, number 3 and number for your center backs and so you’re hoping that each one of them will be a very technically gifted player.

You want, hopefully, number 3 to be your right, footed right back and number for to be your left footed Center. Back. I’M side center backs, and so you want to make sure that they can play long balls that they can push up also from the center of Defense, to get into the attack them and become May X, the V or side. The fourth midfielder and add more numbers into the Midfield. They also direct play and anchor the defense. They make sure the fence is organized and that they are in the right rolls right. Positions in having these two players are some of the hardest positions to find. As a coach, I found when I find a good Center back, that has made my team. Much better and much easier to control the game. I think there’s an aspect to what you’re talking about you know what the numbers in this significance and have a couple questions for you one. I thought our numbers still used in that same way. Do they still have that type of significance? And then I know when we talk about developing soccer player, how long does it take to develop fully into that role in to kind of take on? You know the full meaning of that number? That’S a very good question and I think it’s a lifelong journey. Tulsa Soccer Lessons I think it takes your a lifetime as a player to do that and yeah. You have some outstanding players that do things and Michelle early signs of being really good at position, but it’s something that they are learning over their whole career constantly calling in tomorrow in developing and yes, the significance of the numbers. It is still used to this day and a lot of times you have to go pick up on some of the numbers. I’Ll talk about them briefly here, but many of the number still hold true, I’m usually in your defense you’re, going to see a number 3 or number for playing defense.
