When you’re doing a coach profile of Sir Alex Ferguson this is part two. O’Neill you’ve got to talk about Sir Alex and you get to do it again the day. How are you doing and what do you got for us doing fantastically well.

And I have Sir Alex Ferguson. I just want to make sure he understands that he’s considered to be the most successful manager of all time.

That’s huge. The most successful manager of all time. Yes. Wow. You told us last time he went for 27 years. Yes he coached you mean you.

That’s right. And he held them to a standard and they won you know as a matter of fact 2013 was the year he retired and they won the league that year. He was done when he finished it off. Now on top. He knew yeah he knew how to and he knew how to sustain things for a long period of time. He also knew when to end it. And very few people know how to do that. And I think he was really blessed with everything that he was that he was given in his life. You know the people around him the way he thought his standards I think those things are wonderful and he was a blessing to those around him. As a matter of fact he teaches a course at Harvard University called the business of entertainment media and sports Tulsa Soccer Training .

I saw that somewhere. We’re going to ask you about that if that was true. That was my next thing I was going to ask you is that true.

Yes. Yeah I’ve actually looked up stuff on YouTube with him on it and him teaching and talking in front of students so it’s pretty cool to see.

What did you think about it. I loved it. You have to he knows what he’s doing here. He had a reason for everything he did. Wow.

Some people. I mean I can be emotional have an emotional reason for it but he said this is the reason why I do it and this is what it does. And so it’s beautiful to see someone really be that focused and understand you know why to do something Tulsa Soccer Training .

So he was really intentional and really purposed you know with his actions and his outcomes and his goals. I know obviously you said he is considered to be the most successful manager of all time so that means he’s a great leader because management really is leadership right. Yes. Tell us what were some of the attributes that led to his strong leadership and his success. What do you think some of those foundational concepts were.

Well these are notes I actually took from one of his videos that he had and something I think that is pretty awesome is he would plan ahead. He had long term goals that are that were years in advance so he knew what he wanted and then he had a planned out years in advance so he knew how to implement a plan properly. And the long term effects of his planning. He was also consistent. It was important to do the same things the same way all the time so everybody had expectations of how to be as a player as a staff member. Everyone so come to think of it like this. Having a boss that shows up that acts the same way every time. So you knew what to expect as opposed to having a boss who shows up and one day they’re happy. Next day their mailman the next day they’re sad. Next day they’re angry and you don’t know. I wonder what the boss is going to be like today. Yeah. He was consistent the whole time and his standards were consistent the whole time I’ve heard about that before Tulsa Soccer Training .

And I think you can attribute that to when you can correct me if I’m wrong but I think you can contribute that to success because if there is a certain level of consistency a certain routine a certain scheduling and this is true and coaching in parenting just in life in general just for yourself as an individual you know when you have that consistency that is a great bedrock our foundation to build on is that. Would you agree with that.

Oh yes I totally agree with that. I mean it’s something that he he spoke on when he was he was at Aberdeen and he said the man you the expectation is to win but Abertay Aberdeen he had to get people to have that mentality so you had to somehow instill that in others. And he had to be consistent about it he had to tell them we are winners and we expect to win and these are the things we’re going to do. And he held everybody to that. So I think what you said is exactly right Tulsa Soccer Training .

I asked something about that you mentioned the man you like the expectation is to win. And I definitely I never verbalized that before but when you said it it hit me because they definitely did have that kind of style and that kind of swagger and this sort of attitude you know of like we are the finace like Finast if you will and we are here to win. You definitely felt that you know when they showed up on the pitch and I liked that about them I really did. And I guess that goes back to what their training their mindset their philosophy how does that tell you. Because some people might say it’s kind of cocky and maybe it is but if you can back it up with your skill and your practice I mean I get it. What do you think about that.

I would think it’s the reverse. I think it’s it’s actually being humble but being consistent at what you’re doing and speaking life and truth into your players. So I think it came down to the way they trained their technical work that they put in their work ethic. Like like I said Beckham went there and he would train before and after practice and go through practice. I think they had players that were like that that were really hard working players Tulsa Soccer Training .

So do you think that they were humble or do you think that they were. Because to me I’m not saying that they weren’t humble. I mean I can’t speak to that but they definitely had an air about we are champions and we’re here to win. Did you like that about them did you not like that. What are your thoughts about that kind of an attitude.

Oh I love that about them. I just don’t think they were in your face about it. You know I think I like them. They let their way they played on the field field say that to you and the way that they carried themselves with respect. And I think when you have that you’re going to have that swagger that I’m good.

Yeah I don’t think they were like in your face but when they showed up you definitely knew man you was on the pitch. We’re here about the business we have trained for this. We have focused. I just never thought about it until you said that they had an AS. We’re here to win Tulsa Soccer Training .

Yeah. Yeah I remember. OK. Get this they had this great kid an ugly great kid that they were one game and they’re losing. And Sir Alex Ferguson goes into the locker room and he’s like upset like what what is wrong. And he goes off on him and he’s like you know we don’t get rid of these jerseys. Put the other ones on and they go out there and they win the game.

But they went back to the Radwin. Yeah. So to me it’s like your mentality.

And you know yes you have to have a certain amount of pride right but are a type of pride was a constructive positive type of ride. It wasn’t a cocky arrogant over the top over the top.

So yeah I agree. Well that’s important and again they backed that up with their work ethic with their training regimen. You know Sir Alex Ferguson with his standards. You know all of those things I think are kind of like the platform that you can build a really strong successful if you will house on and play a great game and pitch because you put the work in you know to me. And when you’re talking about this guy the most successful coach of all time you know it’s not just willy nilly how you get there you know it’s not willy nilly. Obviously he has all these awards and these philosophies and I know O’Neal you have much more to share with us and we’re going to have to wrap up for this session but we will come back and talk more about Sir Alex Ferguson and I’m enjoying this coaching profile with you.
